The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities is accepting public comment through May 20 on plans to improve safety and access along the Seward Highway between O'Malley Road and Dimond Boulevard in Anchorage.

The project would add safety features for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers on this stretch of highway. The department is rescoping the project and asking residents to weigh in on the draft purpose and need statement before finalizing design solutions.

This is the third phase of improvements planned for the Seward Highway corridor between Rabbit Creek Road and 36th Avenue. The first two phases addressed other segments of the highway.

The department will hold an open house from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on May 20 at the Dimond Center Hotel Conference Room, 700 E Dimond Boulevard. Residents can review plans, ask questions, and submit comments at the meeting.
