The Alaska Department of Natural Resources is accepting public comments through April 28 on a reclamation application for a placer mining claim near Haines. Randy Miner has applied to continue care and maintenance of the Camp claim on the Klehini River.

The application covers Section 27, Township 28 South, Range 54 East in the Juneau Mining District. If approved, the authorization would run through December 31, 2027, allowing continued maintenance activities on state mining lands. The application also requests approval for cross-country travel on state lands outside the mining location.

The Department of Natural Resources is reviewing the application under state regulations governing placer mining operations and reclamation plans. The agency will consider all public comments before making a decision on whether to issue the authorization.

The full application packet is available for review at the Fairbanks Mine Permitting Office. After reviewing public comments, the state may issue an authorization with conditions or modify the proposed activity during the review process.
