The Alaska Department of Natural Resources is accepting public comments through April 30 on a placer mining and exploration application for Cherry Creek in the Fortymile Mining District near Boundary.

Golden Vista Mining and Exploration LLC, operated by Robert and Sherry Harr, has applied for permits to conduct placer mining and mineral exploration on state lands. The proposed operation would cover sections in Township 26 North, Range 22 East of the Copper River Meridian. If approved, the authorization would run through December 31, 2035.

The application includes requests for a Miscellaneous Land Use Permit, an Approved Plan of Operations, and a Reclamation Plan Approval. The state may also authorize cross-country travel on state lands outside the mining locations.

Written comments must reach the Division of Mining, Land and Water by 5:00 p.m. Alaska Standard Time on April 30. Submit comments to the Fairbanks Mine Permitting Office at 3700 Airport Way, Fairbanks, Alaska 99709, or email [email protected].
