Alyeska seeks to add land to pipeline right-of-way near Deadhorse

Alyeska Pipeline Service Company has applied to add 7.9 acres of state land to the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System right-of-way at two locations south of Deadhorse. The public may submit written objections to the Alaska Department of Natural Resources through July 6, 2026.

The company proposes to install a buried rock sill at Pipeline Milepost 28.3, near Dalton Highway Milepost 388, to protect the pipeline from flooding. Late spring breakup on the Sagavanirktok River this year reduced pipe cover at a relic oxbow, prompting the protective measure. Workers would excavate a shallow trench east of the pipeline, fill it with riprap, and cover it with organic soils.

Alyeska also seeks to formalize a storage and staging area at Pipeline Milepost 39.7, near Franklin Bluffs at Dalton Highway Milepost 377. The 7.2-acre site would support maintenance and repair work in the Sagavanirktok River floodplain.

The buried sill would cover 0.7 acres in Section 13, Township 6 North, Range 13 East, Umiat Meridian. The staging area spans portions of Sections 9, 10, 15, and 16 in Township 4 North, Range 14 East.

Under Alaska Statute 38.35.200, only applicants, competing applicants, or people with direct financial interest who raise objections within 60 days of this notice have standing to seek judicial review.
