Alaska State Troopers arrested a 33-year-old Wasilla man on domestic violence assault charges after responding to a disturbance on Quiet Circle late Monday night.

Ross Turner faces a charge of fourth-degree domestic violence assault following the April 28 incident, according to a dispatch report from the Alaska Department of Public Safety. Troopers responded to the residence at approximately 10 p.m.

Investigators determined that Turner assaulted a family member, causing physical injury. A child under 16 years old was present in the home during the incident, according to the report.

Troopers arrested Turner without incident. He was remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and held without bail.

The Department of Public Safety did not release the identity of the victim or details about the extent of injuries sustained in the assault.

Fourth-degree assault is a Class A misdemeanor in Alaska. When the offense involves domestic violence, courts can impose additional conditions including no-contact orders and mandatory treatment programs.

The presence of a child during a domestic violence incident can affect charging decisions and sentencing. Prosecutors had not filed additional charges as of Tuesday.
