The Alaska Department of Natural Resources plans to issue a contract allowing the state Department of Transportation and Public Facilities to extract 150,000 cubic yards of gravel from a site at milepost 8 of Lake Louise Road.

The extraction site covers about 15 acres in the Copper River Basin, roughly 160 miles northeast of Anchorage. The material will support road maintenance and construction projects in the area.

The contract falls under a negotiated material sale, a process that allows state agencies to obtain gravel and other construction materials from state land without competitive bidding when the material supports public infrastructure projects.

The site sits within sections 3 and 4 of Township 4 North, Range 7 West, Copper River Meridian. The Department of Natural Resources Division of Mining, Land and Water manages the contract through its South Central Regional Office in Anchorage.
