State seeks public input on Denali airport recommendations by May 27

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities will present final recommendations for airports serving Denali Borough at a virtual public meeting May 27 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

The meeting marks the culmination of a two-year aviation system planning study that began in 2024. The study evaluates how to improve airport access and safety for residents, visitors, agencies, and businesses across the borough.

A 2018 Denali Borough Land Use and Economic Development Plan identified a potential regional airport location north of the borough, providing early context for the current planning effort. The department held a previous public meeting in August 2025 in Healy to discuss the study, which evaluates eight existing airports in the borough for improvements.
