The Alaska Department of Natural Resources is accepting public comments through April 23 on a proposal to add a second floating dock at No See Um Lodge on the Kvichak River.

The lodge, located about 19 miles northeast of where the Kvichak meets the Alagnak River in Southwest Alaska, wants to install a 110-foot by 8-foot wooden dock across the river from its existing dock. The new dock would be used only during windstorms and would be in place from June through September each year.

The application requests a five-year amendment to the lodge's existing land use permit. The new dock would be secured by two anchors and two inboard lines attached below the high-water line, with no connection to the shoreline. The existing dock in front of the lodge would remain unchanged.

The proposed permit would run from June 1, 2026, through May 31, 2031.
