The Alaska Department of Natural Resources is accepting public comments through May 6 on a proposed expansion of the Pogo Mine in the Goodpaster Mining District near Delta Junction.

Northern Star (Pogo), LLC has applied to add mining claims, drill pads, drill trails, trenching sites, and structures to its existing hard rock mining operation. The expansion would cover sections of land in townships 5 and 6 south, ranges 13 through 16 east, along the Goodpaster River. If approved, the authorization would run through December 31, 2029.

The application seeks approval for a plan of operations and reclamation plan on state lands under Alaska Administrative Code 11 AAC 86.800. The state may also authorize cross-country travel on state lands outside the mining locations.
