The Alaska Department of Transportation is accepting public comments through May 8 on a proposal to extend a hangar lease at Birchwood Airport for five more years.

Applicant Ashley Marquardt seeks to extend her lease on a 3,942-square-foot lot used for aircraft hangar operations and vehicle parking. The annual rent would remain $625 plus associated fees.

The lease covers Lot 4, Block 700 at the airport and allows maintenance and operation of a hangar for storing private aircraft. State law permits the department to extend the lease without competitive bidding.

Written comments must be received by 4:30 p.m. on May 8, 2026. The department will then decide whether to approve the extension and will notify only those who submit comments.
