The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities is accepting public comments through May 25, 2026, on a proposed 55-year lease at Adak Airport. Adak Development Group, LLC applied to lease approximately 108,134 square feet for a commercial air freight hangar.

The lease would allow the company to build and operate a hangar for commercial air freight, store packaged live seafood for shipment, sell aviation fuel, maintain aircraft, and operate office space. Annual rent would be $23,465.08 plus associated fees.

Adak sits at the western end of the Aleutian Islands, about 1,200 miles southwest of Anchorage. The airport serves as a critical hub for freight and commercial fishing operations in the region.

The department will decide whether to execute the lease after the comment period closes at 4:30 p.m. on May 25, 2026. Only people who submit written comments or competing applications by that deadline will receive notice of the decision.
