The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities is accepting bids through May 8, 2026, for a trail project that would connect the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail to the Ship Creek Trail in downtown Anchorage.

The project would build 1.29 miles of new trail through downtown. Work includes embankment construction, paving, drainage improvements, a reinforced concrete flood structure, and accessibility upgrades. The state estimates the project will cost between $10 million and $20 million.

Sealed bids are due by 2:00 p.m. on May 8, 2026, at the department's Central Region office at 4111 Aviation Avenue in Anchorage. The project must be completed by October 15, 2027.

Contractors can download bidding documents at no charge from the state's online bidding service at https://www.bidx.com/ak/lettings. Companies must register through the DOT&PF website or with the Central Region Plans Room, or their bids may not be accepted. Paper copies of bidding documents are available for $100 per set from the Central Region Plans Room.

The project is federally funded. Bidders with disabilities who need auxiliary aids or special modifications to submit a bid should contact the department's TTD number at 907-269-0473 at least one week before the May 8 deadline.
