The Alaska Department of Transportation will cancel customer facility charges at Fairbanks International Airport starting April 10, 2026, eliminating extra fees that rental car companies and parking operators currently collect from customers.

The cancellation will end the Rental Car Customer Facility Charge that on-airport rental car companies collect from customers and the Public Parking Customer Facility Charge collected by the public parking operator. The changes take effect at midnight on April 10, 2026.

New parking rates will replace the current fee structure. Short-term parking at the domestic terminal will range from free for the first 30 minutes to $20 for stays up to 24 hours. Long-term parking will cost $2 to $15 for the same time periods, with both options allowing maximum stays of 30 days.

The rate changes will replace previously established airport fees, while other airport charges remain unchanged. The department operates the airport system without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability.

The transportation commissioner can adopt these rates based on the notice or decide to take no action. The commissioner reserves the right to correct technical issues in the rate descriptions.
