Alaska Railroad seeks public input on board rules by May 13

The Alaska Railroad Corporation is accepting written and oral comments on its board rules and guidance documents through May 13, 2026, as part of a statewide effort to reduce outdated regulations.

The railroad does not write state regulations but operates under rules set by its board of directors. The corporation is asking stakeholders to suggest changes that would clarify requirements, reduce costs, and improve communication.

Written comments should be sent to [email protected] with "AO 360" in the subject line. The deadline is May 13.

Oral comments will be accepted at 3:30 p.m. on May 13 at the railroad's offices at 327 W Ship Creek Ave in Anchorage. The public can also participate remotely through Zoom using meeting ID 853 6772 3947 and passcode 194939.

The review follows Administrative Order 360, which requires all executive agencies and public corporations to identify and eliminate unnecessary rules. The railroad is looking for input on which board rules could be amended or repealed to streamline operations.

The railroad's board rules cover operations across the 500-mile rail system from Seward to Fairbanks. Comments will be considered by the board of directors.
