A Message from the Fire Chief
video • Alaska News
Hi, I'm Craig Warren. I'm the Fire Chief here in Sitka, Alaska. Today I'm here to ask all Sitkans for their help. These COVID-19 case rates are just going up dramatically. We have to do something and we have to do it now.
Our schools are closing again and there's going to be a large burden on our healthcare system. And remember, this is a regional hospital. It's not just our community. I have seen Sitkans come together. I've seen the best of Sitka.
When we had the landslide, we had hundreds and hundreds of people volunteer to help out. I'm asking you to volunteer to help out today. We need to go back to social distancing. We need to order in instead of going out to the restaurants, wear our masks when we're out in public, practice good hygiene. All the basics that we know about and we were told about months and months ago have kind of gone by the wayside.
It's time to get drastic. These numbers are going up and I don't see them coming back down if we don't change now. Let's show the world what Sitka Strong looks like.
