Good morning. I call this meeting of the House Education Committee to order. It is Monday, May— whoops, it is Wednesday, May 13th, 2026, and the time is 8— no, 9:30 AM. Okay. Present today are Representative Diebert, Representative Eischeid, Co-chair Storey, and myself, Co-chair Himschoot.
We have a quorum to conduct business. We are in the Betty Davis Committee Room 106, State Capitol Building in Juneau, Alaska. Documents for today's meeting have been distributed, are on the table outside, and are on BASIS. I'd like to thank our recording secretary, Kale Brown, our moderator from the Juneau LIO, Doug Burgum, and— Bridges. Bridges.
Doug Burgum is the Secretary of the Interior. Oh, Doug, I'm sorry. I do it every time. And then our committee aides, Ella Lubin and Tammy Amy Smith, who have done such a fantastic job for us this session. Today's agenda, we have one agenda item scheduled for today.
It is House Bill 387, entitled An Act Establishing the Joint Legislative Alaska Native Languages Academic Task Force. At this time, I will accept a motion from Representative Storey. Yes, thank you, Rep. Himschoot. I move to adopt the fiscal note for House Bill 387, also known as 34-LS1664. Objections?
Seeing none, the fiscal note for House Bill 387, also known as 34-LS1664, has been adopted. Brief at ease. Brief at ease.
Okay, we're back on the record, and I want to repeat, uh, what we just moved. The fiscal note for House Bill 387, also known as 34-LS1664-N, has been adopted. With that monumental task behind us, we are going to conclude our meeting for today. Um, seeing no further business, we are going to adjourn at 9:33. Thank you for being here this morning.
