State seeks public comment on Peters Creek placer mining plan

The Alaska Department of Natural Resources is accepting public comments through May 20 on a placer mining application for a site on Peters Creek in the Yentna Mining District near Trapper Creek.

Doug Perry applied for approval to conduct mechanical placer mining on a state mining claim in Section 23, Township 29 North, Range 9 West. The operation would run from the date of approval through December 31, 2026, unless extended. The application also covers cross-country travel on state lands and reclamation plans.

The department reviews the application under state regulations governing mining operations and reclamation on state lands. Other state land uses outside the mining location, if any, will be handled separately.

After reviewing public comments, the department may issue an authorization with conditions. The proposed activity may be modified during the review process.
