The Alaska Department of Natural Resources is accepting public comments through May 11 on a placer mining application for Boulder Creek near Central in the Circle Mining District.

Chris Pemberton and Brad Sundstrom applied to conduct mechanical placer mining on state lands in sections of Township 7 and 8 North, Range 13 East. The proposed operation would run from the date of approval through December 31, 2035.

The application includes a plan of operations amendment and reclamation plan for the mining work. The state may also authorize cross-country travel on state lands outside the mining locations.

Boulder Creek flows through the Circle Mining District in Interior Alaska, roughly 130 miles northeast of Fairbanks.

After reviewing public comments, the state may issue an authorization with conditions. The department could modify the proposed activity during the review process.
