The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation is accepting proposals from contractors to design a drinking water impoundment in Atka, a remote Aleutian community of about 60 people located 350 miles southwest of Kodiak.

The project would follow recommendations in a preliminary engineering report already completed for the community. Atka sits on the eastern shore of Atka Island in the Andreanof Islands group.

Contractors interested in submitting proposals must register with procurement specialist John McDonald at [email protected]. Anyone who downloads the solicitation from the state's online notice system must register separately to receive updates or amendments to the request.

The department's Village Safe Water Program is managing the project. The solicitation is identified as RFP 26-VSW-AKB-020.

Contractors needing accessibility accommodations to submit a proposal should contact McDonald at least 10 days before the May 9 deadline.
