State seeks contractor for rural airport inspections by June 2

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities is accepting proposals for a contractor to conduct safety inspections at rural airports across the state. Proposals are due June 2, 2026, at 2:00 PM Alaska Time.

The work includes conducting 5010-1 inspections, photographing airport features, collecting GPS data, and surveying terminal instrument approach surfaces. The state estimates 122 airport inspections in each of the first two years and 123 in the third year, though these quantities are for evaluation purposes only with no guaranteed minimum or maximum work. Inspection costs cannot exceed $1,550 per airport. The contract also includes up to 94 hours of terminal instrument procedures approach surface surveys, also an estimate with no guaranteed work level.

The Division of Statewide Aviation manages the contract, which uses federal funding. Federal civil rights provisions require that disadvantaged business enterprises receive full opportunity to submit bids.
