A subcommittee working on electricity transmission rates for the Railbelt will meet April 30 at 2:00 PM, but the public cannot attend.

The Tariff Subcommittee of the Railbelt Transmission Organization will hold the meeting by teleconference through the Alaska Energy Authority in Anchorage. The subcommittee advises the organization's Governance Committee on rates and charges for moving electricity across the grid that connects Fairbanks, Anchorage, and the Kenai Peninsula.

Under the organization's bylaws, subcommittee meetings are not open to the public. The subcommittee can only make recommendations to the Governance Committee, which holds the authority to set policies and make decisions. Those Governance Committee meetings are open to the public.

The Railbelt Transmission Organization manages the high-voltage transmission system that links six utilities serving about 75 percent of Alaska's population. The tariff determines how much utilities pay to move power across the shared grid.
