Anchorage firefighters pulled a worker from a mostly empty tank at the Asplund Wastewater Treatment Facility Monday morning after he fell from a ladder.

The Anchorage Fire Department used a hoist to lift the injured man out of the tank at the Point Woronzof facility. Paramedics took him to a hospital.

The worker fell while on a ladder inside the tank. The Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility operates the facility, which treats wastewater for the city.

Firefighters used specialized rescue equipment for the extraction. The department has not released information about his injuries or condition.

The cause of the fall is under investigation.
