Alaska Energy Authority seeks auditor for Bradley Lake power bonds

The Alaska Energy Authority is accepting proposals through May 29 for a contractor to audit the financial records of the Bradley Lake Hydroelectric Project. The special-purpose audit will examine operating and revenue funds managed by the Bradley Lake Project Management Committee, which oversees day-to-day operations of the facility 27 air miles northeast of Homer.

Responses are due May 29, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Alaska Time. The audit must comply with accounting requirements established under the Alaska Energy Authority Power Revenue Bond Resolution.

Bradley Lake has provided roughly 10 percent of the Railbelt's annual power since it began operating in 1991. The 120-megawatt facility serves utilities that supply electricity to 75 percent of Alaska's population. The project management committee includes the Energy Authority and five power purchasers: Chugach Electric Association, Golden Valley Electric Association, the City of Seward, Homer Electric Association, and Matanuska Electric Association.

The Energy Authority approved $200 million in Power Revenue Bonds for Bradley Lake in January 2025, including funding for a federal grant match and the Dixon Diversion Project.

The contract is estimated at less than $50,000 for an initial one-year term, with options to renew for two additional years starting with the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026.
